Why do we have teams?
To build a community where members get to know each other and focus on a strategic place or activity
To keep members informed about the political landscape in each battleground state
To organize high-impact activities, both remote and in-person.
If you're a member of the Harvard community, join a team to help with one of our projects, or get active for a state (you do NOT need to live in the state). Any amount of your time will make a difference. Working beside wonderful folks who are committed to the same mission, you'll feel encouragement and hope.

Project Teams
Phone Bank Team
Team Leaders: Licia Hurst, Larry Kahn
To win in November, we need as many direct conversations with voters as possible. We vet our phone banks to ensure they have evidence-based scripts, use an auto-dialer so we reach the most voters, target the right voters, and have a specific ask so we know we are making a difference. Phone banks are one of the most effective ways of communicating with voters and they are fun!
When you sign up you will receive a toolkit with the script and all the information you'll need. We meet on Zoom, get instructions and training for new folks, and then we make calls and return for a debrief.
Never done it before? Not a problem. We will provide you with all the training you need.
Postcard and Letter Writing Team
Team Leader: Mary Wissemann
Writing postcards and letters is a popular way to reach out to voters and can be a nice way for members to meet new people and wade into activism.
However, postcards/letters are less effective than methods that involve direct contact with voters (phone banks, canvassing). This is why we promote postcarding only at specific times during the election cycle — and with a very specific purpose. Reach out to our Team Leader and we’ll remind you when it’s time to take action.

Note: We recommend participating in state-specific Vote by Mail programs (e.g. Michigan Vote By Mail, New York Vote By Mail). These campaigns have a significant, proven impact.
Voter Protection Team
Team Leader: Hilary Klein
Our team seeks to safeguard democracy by countering voter suppression and ensuring that every vote is counted. Collaborating with other voter protection organizations, we have worked on numerous projects, including recruiting poll observers, curing ballots, staffing voter hotlines, researching election deniers, and educating and re-registering voters whose ballots were undeliverable.
Through a combination of phone banking, texting, internet research, and voter education, Team members ensured the voting rights and/or votes of thousands of Democratic voters in critical states.
Voter Registration Team
Team Leader: Jason Berlin
Increasing the number of registered Democrats is critical to winning in November. When you help someone register to vote, you give them a voice and get new votes for our candidates!
Crimson Goes Blue is proud to work with Field Team 6, started by Jason Berlin ‘94, to offer programs and opportunities to register new voters. Use Field Team 6’s Voter Drive in a Box, which gives you all the tools you’ll need to easily register voters in target states.

Arizona Team
Team leaders: Kari Tannenbaum, Mark Pelofsky
Arizona is one of the only battleground states that has critical 2024 races for the Presidency, Senate, House, and State House. Winning here would greatly increase Harris' chance of winning the Presidency and is essential for holding our majority in the Senate. In addition, winning two competitive House races will put us well on our way to winning back the House.

California Team

Because California always goes blue for the Presidency and Senate, it was neglected by Democrats in 2022 and is arguably the reason we lost the majority in the House. For the 2024 cycle, winning back the 6 competitive House seats (5 of which are in districts that Biden won in 2020) will go a long way toward taking back the House.

Georgia Team

Georgia is the reason Democrats hold a razor-thin majority in the Senate. While there is no Senate race here in 2024, winning here would make it likely that Harris wins the Presidency and we need to maintain our progress to ensure that we hold the Senate in 2026.

Michigan Team
Team Leader: Lisa Wozniak
Michigan will be key to winning the presidency, and we must win Michigan if we are to hold on to the Senate majority. There are opportunities to make gains in the House as well. For the first time in 40 years, in 2022, Democrats took control of the Governor’s seat, the Attorney General’s seat, and both legislative chambers. This allowed the passage of major legislation furthering abortion rights, climate change policy, LGBTQ+ equality, education funding, voting rights, gun reforms, and labor rights.

New Hampshire Team
Team Leader: Kim Frost
The “Live Free or Die” state has one of the largest state legislative bodies in the world at 400 seats and has flipped back and forth between Democratic and Republican majorities during special elections in the last 2 years. With Sununu’s retirement, Democrats have a real opportunity to take back the Governor’s seat.

New York Team

New York always elects a Democrat for President and Senate. House races were neglected by Democrats in 2022 and that is arguably a reason why we lost the majority in the House. Winning the 5 competitive House seats (4 of which are in districts that Biden won in 2020) will help Democrats take back the House.

North Carolina Team
Team Leader: James McMahon
North Carolina has been a heartbreaker for Democrats in the last few cycles. It is the only Presidential battleground that Biden lost in 2020. With a dynamic new Party Chair, North Carolina is competitive for the Presidency. There remains one competitive House race in this extremely gerrymandered state. In addition, the Governor’s race is a must-win for Democrats to provide a counter-balance to the Republican-controlled state legislature.

Ohio Team
Team Leader: Marcy Taylor
Ohio holds arguably the most competitive Senate race in the country, a must-win if Democrats are to hold onto the majority in the Senate. Democrats are defending two competitive House seats here as well.

Pennsylvania Team
Team Leader: Alex Eldridge
Pennsylvania is one of the only battleground states that has critical 2024 races for the Presidency, Senate, House, and State House. While Democrats are more likely to win here than in some of the other battlegrounds, there is virtually no path to the Presidency without winning Pennsylvania. Similarly, we can’t hold the Senate without winning in Pennsylvania. Currently with a 1-seat Democratic majority, the State House has flipped back and forth between Democratic and Republican control during recent special elections.

Wisconsin Team
Team Leader: Luke Fuszard
Wisconsin is often the tipping point state in the Presidential race and may be again this year. The Senate race is competitive and we will be working for Tammy Baldwin’s reelection. Wisconsin district 03 is the one potentially flippable House seat. We’ll know who the Democratic candidate is after the August 13 primary.
