Our Political Strategy
There’s no doubt about it, the 2024 elections will be close and competitive. The balance of power in the House and Senate and whether Harris is elected will be determined by the margin of victory in just a few critical states.
To make the best use of your time and funds, we choose competitive races that have the possibility of affecting the balance of power. We avoid races that Democrats are likely to win or likely to lose.
We prioritize states with competitive races in both the House and the Senate, and states that are likely to affect the presidential election as well. We also prioritize races in the states where our members live.

Our Focus for the 2024 Election
PRESIDENCY
Harris’s election is our #1 priority. The roadmap to victory goes through these battleground states – AZ, GA, MI, NV, NC, PA, and WI. Biden won all of these states in 2020 except NC. Working on down-ballot races in these states can make the difference by bringing out voters who will also vote for Harris.
SENATE
There is a lot of overlap between the Presidential and Senate battlegrounds. The most competitive Senate races are in the Presidential battlegrounds of AZ, MI, NV, PA, WI plus OH and MT. Democrats currently hold a one-seat majority in the Senate. With Manchin declining to run again, we lose the WV seat, which takes us to 50-50. If we hold all of the remaining 7 competitive Senate states, we can retain our Democratic majority. This will be very challenging, but it is certainly possible for us to hold every seat.
HOUSE
Our chance of flipping the House back to Democratic control is very good. All we have to do is to win back four seats. Out of 435 races, 43 are competitive. We’ve targeted 25. (With new candidates, primary results, and voter map changes, our priorities may shift.) Across the country, there are 17 seats where Republicans are serving in districts that Biden won, making those races prime targets. Ten of the most competitive seats are concentrated in CA and NY. Those are new target states for CGB.
STATE LEGISLATURES
Crimson Goes Blue has identified five states where Democratic victories can tip the balance of power. In three states (AZ, NH, PA), Democrats have the opportunity to gain control of a chamber, and in two states (NC, WI), we have the opportunity to hold on to a veto-proof margin of seats. This will empower the Democratic Governors in NC and WI to veto the worst laws passed by Republican legislatures.
